A GRINDING HALT
Sadly enough, things are momentarily on hold until my digital camera gets fixed. And I suppose it won't actually get fixed until I march it down to FutureShop with my warranty. Until then I'll be using my reliable old 35mm Minolta. That's right, film! How exciting! How expensive! But I dropped off 4 rolls of film yesterday so should have something to show soon. Aperture settings, film speeds, shutter speeds, a wide array of lenses! Oh how I remember them fondly.
LOST, episode 20
Tonight was my turn to make a little something for dessert. Since Lorraine is trying to avoid chocolate, I went with the light and fresh Lemon Feather Cake. I think it's a Canadian Living recipe but I can't really remember for sure. It's also good for people who can't eat flour since it's made with potato starch. Here's the cake:

Yum! Shawn brought along the ice cream and Mike brought the coconut treat. And I got to use one of my favourite cake tools. It "cuts gateaux, sponges, etc. into layers of desired thickness by simple height adjustment of the wire". My mom and dad gave it to me for Christmas ages ago. I have no idea where they found it but it's fantastic.

And my cake was delivered in this:

This cake carrier belonged to my grandma and I am still putting it to good use. It's a great, simple design and looks pretty too. Don't you agree?
VEGGIE DINNER
I would just like to recommend this Eggplant & Mint Bruschetta recipe from Martha Stewart's Everyday Food, May 2007. Fast, easy and delicious!
